End of the travelling day

We arrived in Uppsala about 20 minuites early and were met at the airport by Tita Bergquist one of our couriers for the tour, and MarieAnne Lundman and Anna-Toro from IK Fyris Curling Club. A 30 minute coach journey saw us arrive in the centre of Uppsala, Sweden's 4th largest city.

Uppsala is a University town with 200, 000 residents many of them (40,000) students so during holiday times it becomes very quiet. The students use bikes to get around so there are a lot of them to be seen.

Whilst checking into the Best Western hotel Svava we met our other tour courier Anta Hedstrom who arrived dressed in national costume. We freshened up before meeting in Nina's room for pre dinner G&T's. We also managed a quick singing practice in case we needed to perform later in the evening. Our evening meal was eaten in the hotel Italian restaurant where we chose a pasta dish. It was very good.

We all received a gift from the members of IK Fyris curling club of an curling stone (to go on a necklace) made by a local man who has now retired so there will be no more crafted. It was a lovely gift which we all greatly appreciated.
